How I made good on my promise to do something completely unrelated to work…

Some of you may remember that I made a promise to do something completely unrelated to work, because work/life balance is important. I mean, how can I talk the talk and not walk the walk?

I must confess that I’m a little late on making good on the promise, but I did it!

I took a solid week to relax, refresh, and regenerate. It was week filled with trivia, wine, friends, more wine, more friends, and just general vegging out.

This week of no work came on the heels of our Cute and Profesh company retreat to Rhode Island. In all honesty, it started in Rhode Island and kept going when I came back.

Don’t let me deceive you, though. There were a few times when I tried to work. These times were met with dirty looks and slightly loud voices from my friends’ direction.

I’ve decided to give you a few ideas on how you can enjoy some time outside of work.

  1. Learn how to use a hammock.

“I think I’m doing this wrong.” I was.
  2. Bond with co-workers outside of work.

Sometimes, you just have to stick golf pencils up your nose.

  3. Have a drink.

  4. Have a drink with friends.

    Cheers to the good times!
  5. Have a drink by the pool.

This bar has a pool. Usually, it’s the other way around.

  6. Sing karaoke!

Screaming your lungs out to Tapes N Tapes really helps relieve some stress.

  7. Get outside.

    Also involved wine.

What are some of your favorite ways to relax and kick back outside of work? When was the last time you enjoyed time away? Let me know in the comments!
